Parent Heart Watch – Understanding Sudden Cardiac Arrest & AEDs

In recognition of February’s Heart Health Month, our friends at Parent Heart Watch created three short videos to raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and AEDs.

The first in the series – What Would You Miss Most? – is a very moving video of parents sharing their personal stories of loss to compel our communities to take action to prevent sudden cardiac death in youth – the #1 killer of student athletes and leading cause of death on school campuses.

The second video in the series – The Shocking Truth About AEDs – focuses on Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). These portable medical devices are the only way to save a sudden cardiac arrest victim, yet there is a lack of awareness about where they belong and how to use them. The video helps separate fact from fiction fighting #fakenews in the AED world!

The third video is EKG Screenings Can Protect Young Hearts. Sudden cardiac arrest takes the lives of thousands of children and young adults each year but a simple heart screening might have saved them. These are the voices of parents who know.

We urge you to watch and share these videos to raise awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and the importance of AEDs.

Parent Heart Watch, the national voice solely dedicated to sudden cardiac arrest prevention in youth, educates communities about the need for widespread and accessible AEDs everywhere youth congregate and how anyone can use one to save a life.
